Under Water Magnifyning Glass

Does a magnifyning Glass work underwater? The answer to this in no. Since the refraction index of glass is nearly equal to the refraction index of water the power of magnification is lost (Underwater Magnifyning Glass, 2002).

The index of refraction is the measure of the bending of a ray of light while passing from one medium into another. If i is the angle of incidence of a ray in vacuum and r is the angle of refraction, the refractive index n is marked as the ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence to the sine of the angle of refraction (The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2016).
